Want to go plant based? Do THIS.

Let me guess, you want to go plant based. (I mean, who doesn’t?)

But if you’re like most moms you don’t have time to hang out in your kitchen massaging kale.

Or maybe you’ve just been on a diet for 20 years and you never want to count another point or weigh another piece of boring grilled chicken again.

Same, sister.

Take a deep breath and a big sip of your kombucha. It’s going to be OK!

Let’s take a minute to reset.

Better?

Listen, transitioning to a plant based lifestyle doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

As a matter of fact, let’s not start off by NOT taking anything away.

Let’s add some deliciousness to your daily plate.

One of the things I tell people when we first start working together is to add more veggies

Look at what you are eating throughout the day. If you are having a sandwich for lunch, make a salad or grab some carrots and celery with hummus to go with it.

PRO TIP: Eat the veggies first. You will fill up faster and have less room for the meat and dairy on your plate.

When you start doing this, you will eventually start placing more emphasis on plants and less on animal products.

Once you feel comfortable with that, commit to making one plant based meal per day.

Breakfast is the easiest because you can easily make some yummy banana bread or pumpkin muffins ahead of time to have each day.

PRO TIP: Shhhh, you don’t even have to tell your family that they’re plant based. It’s our secret.

Write down why you want to make this change. You may want to reduce/get off of your insulin, lose weight, or maybe you want to decrease your carbon footprint.

Whatever your reason, write it down so you can see it frequently. Remembering why you want to do something will help you stick to your plan.

PRO TIP: Keep it in your notes on your phone or on a piece of paper on your desk so it stays top of mind.

Prepare for being on the go. Seriously, this one is important.

You’re in the car, your kids are getting cranky, you’re hungry. It’s a recipe for disaster.

Keep snacks in your handbag or car. Just something to take the edge off so you don’t end up grabbing fast

PRO TIP: A granola bar, popcorn, an apple can all be eaten with one hand while you mom so hard. They also pair quite well with an almond milk cappuccino. 😉

So there you have it. Solid, actionable tips for starting to make the transition to a plant based lifestyle.

It doesn’t have to be overwhelming and you don’t have to do it overnight.
