Let’s talk about a few of my favorite things, starting with carbs, of course.
*SPOILER ALERT* If you thought you were going to read an email from me saying carbs are evil and we must not eat them, ehhh…not so much.
You see, carbs are what got me into my pre-baby, scratch that, my pre-wedding jeans.
Remember those?
Ahhh, the pre-wedding days. I still can’t believe there was a time when I could meal prep, go to the gym twice/day, work full time, and sleep 8 uninterrupted hours.
But I digress, back to my jeans.
And carbs.
And my relationship with food.
You’ve probably heard me mention that I used to be a serial dieter; trying everything from the military diet (that one sucked) to the cabbage soup diet (not much better).
Every time I tried a new fad or gimmick, my relationship with food eroded a little more and after years of repeating this pattern, I was in a pretty bad place.
I had a long list of restrictions and rules when it came to food.
Sound familiar?
I had been doing the same thing for so long and it hadn’t gotten me a different result so when faced with the reality of my declining health, I decided it was time to try something new.
I knew all the statistics and had read all the studies about how a plant based lifestyle could reverse Type 2 Diabetes. It was time to try something new.
I’ve always been a rule breaker so this actually felt really aligned for me. 😉
I let go of all the “I can’t haves” or “______ is bad”.
I reframed how I viewed food. Instead of looking at what I couldn’t have, I looked at what I COULD have.
As it turns out, this doesn’t spark anxiety the same way freaking out about what you can’t eat does.
Exactly the opposite, actually. It is so freeing!
I started finding new, plant based recipes and tweaking my old favorites.
I remember eating out for the first time and not logging calories in my phone. It felt amazing to be able to just be out and enjoy myself without the anxiety, negative self-talk, and distraction.
And I want the same for you! So get in to my Facebook community and grab a pop-up sesh so we can discuss.
